Wall & Floor Tiling is a trade in the Construction Industry that
decorates internal or external surfaces on buildings by applying
different types of tiles to walls and floors. Tiling jobs range from
simple tasks, using plain or simply designed tiles, to complex tasks,
where tiles are applied to uneven surfaces or more detailed patterned
tiles must be matched to the complete design.
The training programme aims to give those who attend the knowledge,
understanding and practical skills to become a qualified Wall & Floor
Tiler and build a successful future working in the Construction
The training will provide details of working in the Construction
Industry and of the different areas of construction that relate to the
Tiling trade. The programme includes developing skills such as:
· Working safely in construction.
· The principles of building methods and construction.
· Materials in tiling and construction.
· Estimating in tiling.
· Preparing backgrounds for tiling.
· How to tile floor surfaces.
· How to tile wall surfaces.
· Sand and cement screeds.
· How to tile a bathroom.
Successful Wall & Floor Tilers frequently progress to Supervisory and
Management roles within companies or own their own businesses. Wall &
Floor Tilers are also often in high demand working abroad.
Candidates must be aged 16 to 18 years old.

The Apprenticeship Framework is made up of the following qualifications:
Level 2 Diploma in Wall & Floor Tiling
Level 2 NVQ in Wall & Floor Tiling
Level 1 English Functional/Key Skills
Level 1 Maths Functional/Key Skills
Employment Rights & Responsibilities
Construction Skills Health & Safety Test
Wages are £40.53 per week.

Hours are 9am to 3.30pm for 2 days per week – Monday & Friday.
Some course work will be completed via distance learning and there will
be a minimum of 3 weeks work experience where full time hours will be
required. Hours will be defined by the work placement.
