The role of a Painter and Decorator in the Construction Industry varies
from decorating properties such as houses, hotels, offices, etc. in the
widely recognised methods such as wallpapering and painting, to larger,
more industrial jobs such as painting steelwork using paint sprayers.
Some more specialist paint finishes may also be required of a Painter
and Decorator such as marbling and rag rolling.
The training programme aims to give those who attend the knowledge,
understanding and practical skills to become a qualified Painter and
Decorator and build a successful future working in the Construction
Industry.
The training will provide details of working in the Construction
Industry and of the different areas of construction that relate to the
Painter and Decorator trade. The programme includes developing skills
such as:
· Working safely in construction.
· The principles of building methods and construction.
· Materials in painting and decorating and construction.
· Estimating in painting and decorating.
· Preparing surfaces for painting and decorating.
· How to apply paint using a brush and roller.
· How to apply standard papers to walls and ceilings.
· How to apply produce specialist decorative finishes.
· How to apply paint using paint spray systems.
· Decorating rooms, including doors
· Working at height.
Successful Painters and Decorators frequently progress to Supervisory
and Management roles within companies or own their own businesses.
Candidates must be aged 16 to 18 years old.
Applicants should be interested in working in the Construction Industry
as a Plasterer in the future.
The Apprenticeship Framework is made up of the following qualifications:

Wages are £40.53 per week.

Hours are 9am to 3.30pm for 2 days per week – Tuesday & Wednesday.
Some course work will be completed via distance learning and there will
be a minimum of 3 weeks work experience where full time hours will be
